Texas Renaissance Festival 2005 |

11-24-05 This final weekend of TRF and of any ren festival proved to not only be a fun and fantastic time but also to be the best one of the whole ren season for me. Why you may ask? This particular time I got to seriously indulge. I indulged in spending time with old acquaintences, in getting to know new visitors, initiating a fun photo shoot and even getting to seriously step out from behind the camera. Closing weekend capped off a year long project. End of last season my friend Rick and I discussed doing special garb-Chinese court clothes. After months of research, toil and trial and error, we premiered these new outfits. It was a huge hit with patrons and participants alike complimenting us and impressed with Rick's handiwork and skill. We got to feel for 1 day what a popular performer experiences (the photo ops, the praise and ego strokes). Not a bad thing being treated like the center of attention. I recommend doing it at least once. Some of my favorite reactions were: 1) A Chinese couple wanting their son to pose with us. 2) Aware and savvy asian patrons addressing us with royal protocol. 3) A rennie, who is skilled at making garb and shall remain nameless, being so impressed they were almost hyperventilating. 4) This guy thanking me for dressing non-european and showing there are cool cultures beyond a thousand mile radius from England. But fear not, I still managed to get a lot of nice images. 11-14-05 An all too brief visit to great day at faire. Tasting good company and fine events.
