Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire 2002 - Week 3: Page 6
These next several pages contain images of musical shows and stuff like that. Some really great musicians were present during this last weekend of the faire. Some of the acts included:
  Minstrosity,
  Brollywacker, and
  The Pyrates Royale.
The first two images on this page are part of the scenario, which goes like this: (from the program):"Arriving at Lyon in a Scottish vessel, Le Salamandre, they 'obtained' at their last port of call, a troupe of bumbling pirates have been attempting to convert their recently-won spoils into tradeable forms of currency. The ship they sacked had been full of monks who seemed more interested in protecting a statue of a bird, more than the 'real' items of value that had been on the vessel.
"The bird statue is the legendary 'Maltese Falcon; which was to serve as tribute from the Knights Hospitaler of Malta to Holy Roman Emporer Charles V of Spain. TheHospiatlers,an order of warrior monks, will stop at nothing to retrieve the statue."
"Agents of Spain want to obtain the bird to present it to their King and gain favor at court. When the King of France hears of it, he wants to obtain it in order to annoy the King of Spain who held him hostage as a child in 1527. German Landsknecht mercenaries will fight to get the statue and sell it to the highest bider. All of these interests, following the rumors of the fabulous staute, have converged upon Lyon!"
"Meanwhile...Laird Esquire Duncan MacFarlane, envoy to Mary, Queen of Scots, has arrived to inform her majesty that the vessel that had served as the royal yacht has been 'lost.' That ship, La Salamdre, had belonged to her father, King James V. It had been a wedding present from his father-in-law, the old King of France, Francois I, to celebrate James' wedding to Madeline de Valois. However... Laird MacFarlane believes he has a lead on the whereabouts of La Salamandre, and has an idea how he can get it back!"
