One of the major charity events occurring in Austin is the Hill Country AIDs Ride to raise funds for the care of people living with HIV. Participants can
tackle a 10, 17, 45, 65 or 100 mile course starting at Krause Springs. Many people volunteer to assist in the running of the ride and to offer help to these wonderful people. One of those activites is to man pit stops where riders can
take a break and replenish their bodies and their spirits. Pit crew oversee both, creating outposts of outrageous and fun themes to provide support. Some of us from the Austin Costuming Guild joined forces
with the Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival to man a pit crew. Our theme appropriately enough was superheroes since we were catering to true heroes. Our crew was well received and the Ride overall a great
success raising over $600,000.
