We kick off the new season with a rare opportunity. The fans of Joss Whedon's short lived show Firefly, known as Browncoats, have an annual celebratory event. It's akin to a vacation weekend where fellow enthusiasts gather to be
social, participate in fun workshops and cap things off with a formal ball in the spirit of the show. The event takes place in a different city each year to maximize attendance. Browncoat groups from different cities enter bids to be the next host-just like the Olympics.
Since this year's was in Austin, my roommate and I jumped to volunteer to help out. Amongst my various duties was to help archive some of the going-ons. Above I've also included the link to my friend Skypirate's images. He was on hand also and was able to cover many events I was unable to get to.
The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby
