2004 marks the 35th annual San Diego Comic Book Convention or Comic-Con. This is a grand 4 day event that is part shopping expedition, part trade show, part cinema showcase-ALL Playful Fantasy. A time where all genres merge (but hopefully don't collide) and a chance to indulge one's inner child for a brief yet incredible, jam-packed moment. How else to describe a weekend where you get to hear Ray Bradbury reflect on his life yet witness the appearance of the next great talent, compare assets with Superman and Pikachu, get a hug from Snoopy as well as Vampirella, buy the coolest action figure, be the coolest action figure, be on the lookout for stars or battle amongst them. That's a pretty good way to spend 3 days. Hey I even managed a little sightseeing.

The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby

This fantastic Superman is Josh Boultinghouse

He aptly won the costume contest at the annual Superman fest in Metropolis, Ill

He was cornered by VH-1 who was spotlighting the event

I had to pose with the Man of Steel

Josh is a fun guy

People took a real shine to him

Not hard to see why

This is Deb with the Art Institue of Orange County

She indulged me on a little camera fun

I don't think she minded much

Famed Fantasy writer Terry Brooks author of Sword of Shannara

This Batman Beyond outfit was smokin'

Rival crimefighters

I wanted to take a pic of this Steed, but there was no Mrs. Peel. So I loaned him one for the shot

A good photo combo

Some practice fun in the photo area before the start of the Masquerade Costume Contest

Sadly they weren't in the contest

Too bad, they got us photographers seriously jazzed

Isn't she the bomb?

They looked great together
