This past February weekend I attended a local Austin, Texas event, the 26th annual Carnaval Brasileiro. It's a fun and energetic event founded by a group of native Brazilians homesick for their native party. The party was held at the Palmer Center near downtown Austin, a huge venue with several bleachers set up partway in and plenty of bar stations. There was an enormous number of people samba-ing the night away to an exciting band from New York as well as plenty of colorful and risque outfits.

The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby

The poster for this year's event

Me, wearing something a little bolder than usual

My friend being a bit greenman-ish

These ladies were passing out club flyers

This guy had a fun puppet attached to him. Or is it vice versa?

There were plenty of flavorful outfits

Thought this was neat, awkward, but neat

This guy's coat caught my attention

Live entertainment was provided by Grupo Saveiro from New York. They were incredibly charged and appealing

Once the band started...

...people immediately hit the dance floor

There were several conga lines, 50 plus people long

The girls were striking, especially the skunk

This was a nice couple

Not too many wallflowers at this party

This guy's suit is made of duct tape.
