Oak Lawn Halloween Street Party of Dallas

On the Saturday before Halloween, the Oak Lawn area of Dallas holds its annual Halloween street party within the club section of Cedar Springs Avenue. This event, going on for over 20 years, is an exciting and colorful event that attracts thousands upon thousands of people all ready to show off or gaze at the various costumes on display. In past years some very inventive and flamboyant costumes have been presented. This year I attended taking a few pics along the way and partying along the streets and within the local clubs. I took shots of some interesting outfits. I didn't get everything since I only had 1 roll of film. Some of the ones I missed were a very excellent Tina Turner, an Endora, a very well detailed 60's TV Batman & Robin, Mighty Mouse and Cleopatra being carted around by her attendants. There were also some risque ones which were best not recorded. All in in all it was a fantastic evening of fun, gawking, music and dancing.

The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby

I got a lot of attention w/these bold cheetah tights courtesy of Faire Pair Tights.

My friend Rick looking very serious & cavalier-ish in his Pendragon ensemble

It was not unusual to see bands of fairies about on the street

This wedding couple caught our eye. The man's coat was very cool

I thought the mask this fellow was sporting was gorgeous. I think it was a guy.

This lady came as a tub of popcorn. Pretty neat.

A pair of matching cowboys

This Rocky and Bullwinkle couple had a hard time manuevering through the crowds

This person came as a crazed Aunt Jamina

A number of groups came as a theme like these Aztec warriors

Another group dressed as the different kings from a deck of cards

This flock of church lady protesters were a riot and very spirited

This guy really played up the diva image

It's hard to tell from this shot, but the street were very crowded

1 of the local bars, The Round-Up, got into the spirit by decorating their place in a superhero theme inside and out

1 of their bartenders as the X-man Storm; although she isn't usually this much of an albino

This one is suppose to be the X-man Cyclops. Sadly my flash flushed out the red tint of his visor

I felt this guy did a pretty good Flash. His fellow bartender was dressed equally well as Superman
