During the first full weekend of December in downtown Galveston, Texas is an extremely popular street festival celebrating Charles Dickens and
the Victorian era. It is presented by the Galveston Historical Society. Downtown is a good setting with much of the old victorian architecture still intact. This is an event I've missed in the past owing to hobnobbing with pirates in the carribean.
It is a packed 3 day event beginning with a Victorian Ball Friday evening with festivites for the rest of the weekend filled with shops, performers and varied street cast. The event draws quite a number of patrons with those dressed in garb getting in free.
It was also a very pleasant weekend weather wise. Past years it has been cold and wet. This season it was mild and sunny the first 2 days and overcast on Sunday, but still pleasant.
The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby
