| After finishing up at the Aquarium of the Americas, we strolled over to Riverwalk Mall to grab some lunch. From there, we took a free ferry across the river to get to Blaine Kearn's Mardi Gras World. Unfortunately, at this point, my camera decided to run out of battery power and I left extra batteries back at my car (silly, I know). Andrea took some pictures and hopefully I'll add those to these pages; however, I haven't gone back to update any pages I said I would at this point, so I wonder if I'll do so now. Mardi Gras World is in a large warehouse where props and floats are built year round for the festive occasion each year. It was an interesting tour where we who have not been to Mardi Gras can witness the splendor of the floats first hand. When we returned to the French Quarter, rain hit. We were getting pretty hot and tired anyway, so we ventured back to the hotel to relax and cool off. It had been great day... and a great trip. |

A rainy end to Thursday |
We returned to the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) Thursday night after the rain stopped to get some dinner at a place called "Petunia's." It had stopped raining and cooled, so we strolled around for what seemed to be a little while. Finally, we asked someone for the time and discovered it was one in the morning. Whoops! We cruised on back home, fell asleep, and woke up at 10:30. Check out was at 11:00, so we had to rush. Once again we stopped in the Quarter for breakfast and quickly departed for this long road trip back.
