So here it is, the trip Andrea and I took to New Orleans. We left Monday morning, August 7th and planned to be back before the Bristol faire opened the next Sunday. Currently, it's Friday, August 11th and we're on our way back. It's 5:00pm and we're still in Mississippi. Methinks we'll be awfully tired if we do make it to faire tomorrow. Anyhow, I could write lots of stuff about our adventure to the Big Easy. I'll attempt to do some of that throughout the image gallery. However, we also took quite a bit of video footage and that may be a better way to tell our tale. For now, here are the images and such!

The above images are taken at Marie Leveaux'a tomb. Each day visitors leave some nature of token or prayer to the voodoo queen for their wishes to come true. Below are a few more images of various tombs. Of particular note is the highly decorated one with the teddy bear. A gentleman by the name of Mr. Smith keeps up an old tradition of decorating graves of his loved ones in the traditional style of the past. It times gone by, especially during All Saints Day, residents would clean up their family tombs to celebrate their ancestors. Even today in New Orleans, All Saint's Day creates the most business for floral stores... even more than Mother's Day.
Below are the final images from our tour. First is Congo Square. Dating back to times before the Civil War, people of color including slaves would come to this area to celebrate. Although this took place outside of the city's walls, Americans were shocked at this practice since elsewhere in America, slaves were not allowed to gather. The other images are more taken around the Quarter on Wednesday
