| Here are our first glimpses of New Orleans. Coming in we took the 24 mile causeway that goes over Lake Pontchartrain. It's a toll-bridge (cost $3), and, supposedly, we were supposed to be out of sight of land for eight miles according to our AAA Tour Book. Well, no, to some degree we could always see land. We pulled in, checked into our room at the Super 8 motel on Chef Menteur Avenue, and took a cab down to the French Quarter. By this time Andrea was famished. We quickly paced through Jackson Square and walked to Bourbon Street. I can't even tell you the name of the restaurant because we just picked one and grabbed some vittles. |

| The below images begin our day on Wednesday. One of the things we most wanted to do in New Orleans was take a tour of one of the cities of the dead, otherwise known as a New Orleans's
Graveyard. We took a cemetery/voodoo tour with Melissa (third image from the left below) and 9 other people through St. Louis Cemetary #1, the infamous site of where Marie Levauex, Voodoo Queen, is buried. The tour also included a brief respite in the French Quarter courtyard/temple of a voodoo spiritualist. Her name escapes me at the moment and we we're requested not to take any pictures, so... |
