One of things aspects of this faire I found rather impressive was their chessmatch. Performed twice a day,it not only has the standard fill of excellent stunts but it contains interesting shades of grey to its plot plus amusing little moments that occur outside the action. The plot revolves around Count Marco, Senator of the Republic of Venice, a proud and yet naive man whose bride has been kidnapped along with her dowry of very profitable lands. She was taken by Lord Alaric, Baron of Saxony, a ruthless and charming machiavellian, who takes great pleasure at pushing the Count's buttons.

The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby

He's tougher than he looks

What has Marco so enraged?

An over enthusiastic Sir Guy bends the rules while taking out Jareth

He is the nephew of Captain Farrington

Guess who are the next combatants

The captain engages with total ferocity

Sir guy takes every moment to taunt him

and toy with him

This round get intense

and brutal

A very vengeful Farrington gets the upper hand

Sir Guy decides to yield

The Captain must next face Baroness Elora

He tries to find a suitable weapon

She has something more playful in mind

He's not doing too bad so far

A possible standstill

Sealing her victory

Now why is everyone trying to kiss the Captain

Alaric delights in mocking Marco, accusing him of using his bride merely as a means
