  Minnesota   Renaissance   Festival 2004 |
|
9-18-04                I have now posted the remainder of my Minnesota images. Minnesota to me was an interesting experience. Some things I already knew about, but there were aspects that surprised me.                The faire while having a touch of the renaissance has no true historical foundation. However I enjoyed myself very much partaking many of the things this place had to offer. Also the people of the festival were very warm and open, making me feel quite welcomed and did what they could to ensure I had the best time possible.               From these 3 and 1/2 exhausting days, I came away with a number of observations:               1) There is a respectable size cast full of talent. Several of them sport more than 1 identity during the day and really reach out to the average patron.               2) The festival has a real gem in Lolly Foy (the Queen). She is an enthusiastic and charismatic performer               3) Chessmatch rocks (see pics below).               4) There are a lot of different crafters that sell pottery. Many at a superb level.               5) There is an unusually high number of bawdy or adult oriented acts compared to other faires.               6) That being said, for better or worse, I now have a new definition for the word Gaelic.               7) I can never look at marshmellows the same way again.               8) Haulaway Joe can be a hazardous song for someone to sing.               9) I have a new fondness for Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.             10) There are patrons who seem to really love the faire enough to endure 90% humidity and risk torrential thunderstorms.             11) Apparently Hobbits like to play Bocci Ball             12) Geese are tough, feisty birds.             13) Next time I need to see what front gate is like. 9-16-04                Here is the first half of my jam packed adventure at Minnesota Ren Festival. Enjoy and good days to all, |
