  Maryland   Renaissance   Festival 2003 |

09-24-03                Hello to all. Just got back from another excursion from the Maryland Faire. It was a fun and crazed weekend in the aftermath of Hurricane Isabel. fate in its infinite wisdom left the faire grounds reasonably unscathed.                The trip was of course very exhausting and of course I didn't get to do or see everything I would have liked. But the pleasures outweighed the drawbacks. Among some of the personal highlights for me were:                1) Being able to socialize more with people in spite of a busy agenda                2) Finally getting to meet Carolyn Spedden the director of the festival and the person responsible for what it is today                3) As always, seeing so many pirate acts that I love converged together                4) Sharing some quality time with Amethyst, Gary and Regan. It's just ironic the latter required a 1500 mile trip to see someone who lives an hour from me                5) Being witness to some incredible tributes to Bill Huttle that were as intense and heartwrenching as they were beautiful and transcendent. One was so powerful that even if I had not run out of film, I was so taken that I probably couldn't have archived it.                6) People approaching me to say how much they appreciate the Roost and Renradio. It's always nice to get feedback on what I do.                7) Not letting a little thing like a hurricane get in the way of my fun                But again a few down sides as well:                1) Isabel for leaving a hot and very humid saturday                2) A pox on the evil sushi that struck down Peg saturday night                3) A double pox on the evil airline(s) that screwed over people trying to get to faire for this weekend.                4) Still not getting to do everything I wanted to this season. Anon and good days, |
