Again I was able to return to the Maryland Festival in Crownsville for their Pirate Weekend. However this trip was in the aftermath of the evil Hurricane Isabel. Fortunately the damge was not too bad the weather eventually became nice with only Saturday's attendance being affected. In spite of the weather, the festival still put on a good show with its wide variety of acts and performers. I got to experience some new acts like Swami Yomahmi and revisit ones I missed last season including Shakespeare's Skum. I still somehow ended up with a crowded agenda but I made sure to make room for all my favorite piratical acts. After all what would have been the point of coming.

The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby

They really love these guys...

...as everyone can see

Capt Moone consorting with Emyrs the Ratcatcher during the costume contest

This lad won the children's division

In the adult category, the contestants had to show off their inner pirate

Peg admiring this fellow's coat

Moone asking this contestant if she could pick that up.

She doesn't do it the way he hopes

This fellow is willing to comply

Seems this Jack Sparrow clone has elicited a reaction

The Captain is trying awfully hard to get this pirate queen's attention

A beautiful family portrait

Dinty the Moor doing his card tricks at the Gatehouse

Teaching these 2 fellows how to avoid bloodshed

This trick almost worked

At the Lyric Stage the Rogues are in full form
