The Colorado Festival is a very enjoyable faire with a good mix of crafters and entertainers, albeit the cast was smaller than I expected. There are enough unique aspects to the place to give it it's own individual personality. I kept pretty busy with my camera. First and foremost are the surrounding mountains
that create a breathtaking backdrop for the faire. Incidentally the site is a respectable sized one and reasonably laid out in spite of the mountain terrain it is built on. There are a wide variety of crafters including such major vendors as Fellowship Foundry, Dragons Wings, Ruth Thompson and Noblisse Oblige whose owner, Leslie Harris, my friends and I had the pleasure of meeting. There were also some tents and booths that surprised me a little including the Adopt-a-Greyhound center. There seemed to be a higher number of bawdier acts or at least bawdy humor than I've seen at the majority of faires
such as Ded Bob, the Naughty Nymphs and Puke & Snot (the oldest ren act on the circuit I believe). One performer, Dextre Tripp had a show that really went off with a bang and was a nice change of pace from the typical balancing/acrobatic act. The faire has it's share of theme weekends with this one emphasizing music with guest musical acts including a highland dance school, a pipe band and a fiddler's contest.
The previous description and all these wonderful images are brought to you by Frank Hui. Because of his devotion, I have nothing to add. --Robyn Sotherby
